灵魂深处的景观

在过去15年中，胡志颖一直在探索“文化反差”。直到20世纪90年代末，他将对传统中国绘画的深入阐释与对当代焦虑的表现相融合，创作了富有特色的“灵魂深处的景观”。近来他又专注于现成品与西方表现主义画派，这是那种最初追求的进一步发展。
胡志颖将中国传统山水画的象征体系与逐渐呈现出来的国际当代艺术风格的折衷主义相结合。在艺术家看来，被再现的形象与现实世界是同等的，而不仅仅是对它的记录。因此，“文化反差”既是一种抽象的知识，又是一种具体可感的知识。
胡志颖的巨幅绘画综合了很多种物体图像：他的富有想象力的透视常常使前景的物体与背景的物体相切换。传统绘画的和谐构图遭遇了当代灵魂的幽暗港湾。当观众试图领略众多意象的古代原型时，他们很可能被那梦幻般的绘画境界所迷住而不能自拔。
画布或者木板上的架上绘画使用了诸如墨、油彩与丙烯以及金粉与银粉、中国大漆等传统材料。这些不同的材料使得不同的形象更加充实，人们很容易将光滑的表面与我们过着平凡生活的世界的光明然而又不稳定的现实相联系。
同时，那些辉煌的前景中的现实暗示着隐藏在令人眼花缭乱的表面下的幽暗、神秘的世界。无论我们观赏《内典录》、《文字》还是其他系列，绘画语言都将抽象和具象融合在一种深邃的意境之中。
富有想象力的探究的不同系列其数目渐增，它们是《文字》、《数学》、《天文》、《方程式》、《原子》、《内典录》和最近的《重造培根》。激越的笔法和强烈的色彩之间的剧烈对比，同样表现了我们遭到忽视的灵魂王国的那些非传统的易变而非凡的图像。

In the last 15 years Hu Zhiying has been exploring a “culture contrast”. Until the end of the 1990s he blends a penetrating interpretation of traditional Chinese painting with the representation of the contemporary anxiety, producing a characteristic “landscapes of the soul”. The recent concentration on ready-made and Western expressionist school is a further development of that original concern.
Hu Zhiying combines the symbolism of the Chinese traditional landscape painting and the unfolding eclecticism of the international contemporary art styles. In the view of the artist, the represented images are as equivalent to the real world and not merely a document of it. The “culture contrast” is thus both an abstract and a perceptible knowledge.
The large painting of Hu Zhiying synthesis the images of many kinds of objects: his imaginative perspectives frequently switch the objects in the background with those in the foreground. The harmonic compositions of the traditional paintings crash into the dark creeks of contemporary souls. When the viewers try to discern the archaic prototypes in a multitude of imagines, they are likely to lose themselves in the dreamlike painted realm.
The easel paintings on canvas or board use conventional materials like ink, oil and acrylic colors, as well as gold and silver power, and Chinese Varnish. These various materials add substance to the diverse images and the glossy surface are easily identifiable with the bright yet unstable reality of the world in which we live our common life.
At the same time, those brilliant foreground realities imply a dark, mysterious world lurking beneath a dazzling surface. Either we look at “Buddhist Scriptures”, “Characters” or other series, the pictorial language blends abstraction and figuration in a profound artistic conception.
Progressive numbers identify the different series of imaginative researches, named “Characters”, “Mathematics”, “Astronomy”, “Equations”, “Atoms”, “Buddhist Scriptures” and the recent “Remake Bacon”. The vehement contrast between an intense brushwork and the strong colors similarly display those non-conventional changeable and extraordinary images of our ignored soul kingdom.
